 Staff | george | Apr 17, 4:51pm | Hi all,
We are testing a new Similarity meter in beta. It is currently enabled for all members of the Beta group when viewing a profile in the default theme (white/blue). It replaces the existing Common Interests widget in the sidebar. It determines the level of similarity by looking at each of the topics you both liked as well as the number of pages liked in each topic. It also displays the top 5 most similar interests between the users.
Let me know if there are any bugs or suggestions on improving the feature. We will make the feature available on all themes after the testing is complete.

Cheers,
g
PS. I based the different levels (i.e., there is something there, same difference) on existing comparison apps. Feel free to make suggestions on better level names. Especially if you have ones that are related to stumbling |

Sponsor | northpaw | Apr 17, 5:17pm | Very nice! Took me a second, but there are actual tiny increments in the meter levels - yay! (I was afraid it was only showing 25%, 50%, 75%...)
To be honest, I could do without the level names entirely. I'm thinking that once we've seen a few dozen meters, a shortcut like that won't be needed at all. Just my two cents. :)
Oh man, if you could possibly put that meter in a stumbler's avatar mouseover, say... on a fans list... :D |

Staff | george | Apr 18, 1:06am | It's part of my evil plan to get everyone back onto the default theme! muhahahaahhah...
Ok.. not really... just too lazy to make all the variations for all the themes at this time.
#2 Having the meter on hover is a cool idea. If it proves to be a popular feature perhaps we can bug Eric-bot to help make it happen. Help me come up with more names then we can have something different at every % increase then it won't get old so fast
One additional request: please visit your friends and let me know if you feel the meter is accurate. I realize it will be challenging since it's only on the default theme and it will be based on your perception. But I would really appreciate the feedback.
Thanks,
g |
